Spill the Tea is a networking, empowering, and therapeutic event for mothers. We challenge society pressures and demands of motherhood by creating a transparent and educational space for mothers of all walks of life. This year we’re happy to announce our passion panel. A panel of mothers who’ve utilized their passions to create a life in their respective careers and professions. This evening experience includes an exclusive shopping experience from local businesses, headshots for mother’s Linkedin profiles, and a motivational message from keynote speaker, Trina Small.

Spill the Tea is a safe space for mothers to discuss the secrets, successes, and struggles of motherhood. Encompassing a group of mothers from all different walks of life, we're covering it ALL! Nothing is off limits. CHICmom firmly believes in creating transparent experiences for mothers to learn, empower and educate one another. Spill the Tea is an evening where mothers gather together to lean on each other to take life by storm while not sacrificing our dreams and goals, despite being a mother.

CHIC Chat: Beauty Inside

Tianna James

Tianna James is a licensed cosmetologist with over a decade of experience and has been an entrepreneur for her entire working career. While using her talents to help women feel and look their best daily, she also gets to engage in very intimate conversations with her clients. Conversations that reveal disturbing and saddening stories of women suffering from various reproductive health issues like severe PMS, PCOS, fibroids, intensely painful periods and infertility. In hearing the many descriptions and discomforts, the one thing they all had in common was being prescribed birth control pills to ‘mask’ the symptoms or advised to get a hysterectomy instead of treating the root cause of their issues. Being able to relate to some of these experiences, she set out to find alternative and holistic approaches to healing. That’s when Tianna discovered Fertility Awareness. She has spent the past few years studying to become a Holistic Reproductive Health Practitioner in efforts to educate the women in her community on how to record and interpret your fertile signs with the Fertility Awareness method. Her passion is to share the freedom and power you gain when understanding how your menstrual cycle is the 5th vital sign of your health and fertility.

CHIC Make-up Artist

Kori Fields

A native of Detroit, Kori C. Fields is a freelance makeup artist, blogger, and visual stylist. She holds a fashion merchandising and marketing degree from The Fashion School of Kent State University. Kori gained a global perspective of fashion and culture through her study abroad experiences that led her to Italy, France, England, Germany, Switzerland, as well as New York. Kori currently is the primary writer for her blog Colour By Numbr. She honed her writing skills while serving as the editor of Edge Magazine and contributing to Ambassador Magazine,  StyleBlazer.com ,  and DivasandDorks.com . To date, she has also been featured in Marie Claire Magazine,  TheNewYorkTimes.com  as well as EBONY Magazine. Colour By Numbr is my attempt to venture out and explore trends and color just as I would if I were working for a major trend and color forecasting agencies. It’s my on the job training and crash course into the world of trend forecasting. For me, trend forecasting is all about being aware of your surroundings, admiring what some may consider weird, and being open to new and unusual concepts. This blog is my outlet to express myself. Fashion is what I do, what I have studied, and what brings me joy. I consider it an honor to share my knowledge and experience…

CHIC Emcee

Jessica Byrd: Founder, CHICmom Organization

When Jessica became a new mommy she was bombarded with tons of decisions to make, as most moms; should I work, should I do daycare, should I breastfeed, the list goes on. Despite having a very strong support group in her family, she noticed that amongst her peers, motherhood was like a secret society. A society of mothers who appeared to have it all figured out, but the reality was we all need help, and more importantly we all need each other. Jessica noticed that mothers lacked a sense of community and she wanted to solve that problem. What started as a post on Facebook, as "moms club" has now grown to over sixty mothers in a member oriented organization named CHICmom.
